The Lightest Body . Quiet Shutter . The Highest Quality . Digital Leica M9

In the century of advanced technology development, Leica has made an important step forward and enters into the new digital world. After Leica M8, the first Leica M digital camera, was issued during 2006 – 2008, Leica introduced more advanced technique and produced Leica M9 in 2009. Leica M9, the crossover of classic and modern, is the first full frame digital rangefinder camera in history. It can be matched with nearly all Leica M series lenses. As Leica M9 has a tiny body and quiet shutter sound, photographers can carry it everywhere comfortably and capture beautiful indoor, outdoor, travel, nature and landscape photos.

In order to satisfy the photographers who have a high demand on image quality, Leica continuously brings in new technique which always surprise photographers. Leica M9 uses an 18.5-megapixel Kodak (KAF-18500) CCD 24mm x 36mm full frame sensor, which perfectly captures all the details and natural colours of image. Besides, Leica M9 can save raw DNG files as compressed or uncompressed format to meet the need of different photographers.

Leica M9 preserves the classical appearance of Leica M cameras. It includes two colours, black paint and silver grey paint. The black paint one is covered with simulated vulcanite but the silver grey paint one is covered with smoother texture. The representable red Leica logo was printed next to the photoflash and the M9 wording was marked at the top left corner of the body. The back of the camera includes a 2.5 inch TFT LCD screen with full field of vision.

Main Menu with Easy Operation

mp-steelgrey-screen This camera has only one main menu which makes the operation simpler. Leica M9 is able to identify different 6-bit or non-6-bit Leica lenses by its colour codes through the main menu. It then activates the corresponding operations to meet the need of different lenses. There are five quick access buttons, PLAY, DELETE, ISO, INFO and SET, beside the LCD screen. Photographers can quickly adjust the ISO sensitive value (from 80 - 2500) through the ISO fast button. They can also choose the functions of Auto-ISO or pull (80). In addition, Leica M9 removed the small window as on M8/8.2 which displays the number of available images left on the SD card and the state of battery. The information can instead be found through the INFO fast access button. Pressing the INFO button can also access the shutter speed and focus length.

m9-black Leica M9 possesses another advantage that photographers can easily adjust shutter speed by moving a circular knob on the top of the camera without looking at the LCD screen. It makes photo shooting more flexible.

This Leica M9 digital camera is as brilliant as classic Leica rangefinder cameras. Leica perfectly adopted the classical Leica M rangefinder coupling focus design to digital cameras and successfully opened up its digital age.
